Kanto region – CHIBA

Chiba Prefecture is located in the eastern part of the Greater Tokyo Area, almost in the middle of Japan, jutting out into the Pacific Ocean as a peninsula. Except for the Boso Hills, the terrain is mostly flat, with a coastline stretching 531 kilometers, displaying a diverse and varied landscape. Surrounded by sea on three sides, it enjoys a mild maritime climate, with warm winters and cool summers. It is also home to Narita International Airport, Japan’s gateway, and is a hub for airport-related industries and international logistics. Additionally, Chiba Prefecture is actively engaged in a balanced range of activities, including commerce, industry, research, and development. Blessed with a mild climate, it is one of the leading agricultural prefectures in the country, ranking fourth in terms of production value nationwide.

In Chiba Prefecture, there is a city called Sawara, known as “Koedo” or “Little Edo.” Sawara prospered as a relay point for the Tone River water transport, and to this day, there remains an old townscape with the nostalgic atmosphere of Edo era, mainly along the riverbank. Through the “Koedo Sawara Funamori” experience, you can leisurely and comfortably view the townscape with its Edo-style charm from a sightseeing boat.
